"2001: A Space Odyssey" is a monumental science-fiction movie directed by Stanley Kubrick, originally released in April 1968. This masterpiece film uses miniatures-based special effects and innovative filming techniques to tell a tranquil and mysterious story and create a highly realistic experience. The Space Station 5, which was a relay point between the Earth and the moon, played a major part in the story of the film, and made a huge impression on moviegoers due to its partially constructed state; the effect of rotation to generate artificial gravity was so well-done that it gave the film the illusion of being a documentary rather than a work of fiction.
